Hello.

I am so glad the year formerly known as 2003 is finally over. I thought surely, it would never end. Did all of you have as rotten a time as I did? I hope not. The past few months were really hard. But, there is always a silver lining. Always. This time, for me, it came in the shape of a beautiful, little two-bedroom house in the San Fernando Valley. With Hard-wood floors, Central heating & Air Conditioning and a huge back yard. I am so happy. After living for the past two years in a tiny apartment in a horrible neighborhood where every night it seemed, there were L.A.P.D. car chases, shootouts, loud, obnoxious neighbors, screaming, honking, playing loud-ass mariachi music at all hours of the night, and never any parking anywhere – It was so nice to finally be able to live in a nice, quiet neighborhood where we have two parking spots in our driveway, a two-car garage, and tons of on-street parking, our neighbors are all cool, work-at-home professionals, and I have a nice yard where my dog and I can play, instead of keeping him up at my Mom’s house. Yes, for the next month or so I will be up to my neck in boxes, but it’s so worth it.

I have noticed a lot of new “faces” on this board, and to you I say, “Welcome!”. This is our happy playground. Treat with respect and care, play nice with everyone and it will remain here for as long as we want it to be. For those of you who are wondering who the fuck “Icky” is, I was, in a former life, the drummer for Imperial Drag. “Icky”, the on-line moniker I chose, is derived from a nickname my brother called me when we were very young as he couldn’t say Eric. As there were two Erics in the band, I adopted to use that name in I.D. (actually I started using it years before in another band where there were two Erics. In certain circles, I’m still not even known as Eric anymore). It seemed to stick, and though I’ve never been fond of nicknames (I always thought they were a little too cutesy & pretentious), I don’t mind it so much. There. That’s the legend of Icky.

Well, even though it’s a week into 2004, we usually post our “best of” lists on this site, and I’m terribly late. So, for your pleasure (or displeasure) , here it is in it’s incomplete state:

Genius.Very “inside” and Hollywood-centric humor, but genius.

Worst movies of the year:

Pirates of the Caribbean

The Haunted Mansion

Admittedly, I didn't see the usual lion's share of films I usually do, but this was due to the unusually hectic and turbulent past year. Films I'm still dying to see: Kill Bill, Peter pan (hope it doesn't suck) Matchstick Men, X-men:X2, and Lord of the Rings: The return of the King. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but, hey...

Well, it's time for my dinner, which, if it's still open at this late hour (10:00 PM), will be an incredibly hot bowl of chili that will immediately give me hiccups & make me sweat like Michael jackson in a Chucky Cheese Restaurant, at my favorite new place to eat: a little hole-in-the-wall a mile from my new place (another reason to love it) that serves up thirty different kinds of gourmet Chili called, "Chili my soul". Mmm Mmm good!

Happy 2004 everybody. As always, I love you all.

(Yes, even the newbies).

-ICKY.
