Isn't this cool? I think it would be a perfect night for long lost friends/enemies/acquaintances to get together, bury the hatchet, and jam at Kulak's (5230 1/2 Laurel Canyon) at 8:30 or at Cat Club at 11:00. Hee hee... BYOB (as in, booze, bongo drums, etc.) Carrie -- why don't you try putting in a call to the hermit see if you can convince THAT one! ;) Maybe, just maybe, ...... (*insert maniacal laughter here*)
BLUE MOON
"For more than half a century, a blue moon was commonly thought to be the second full moon in a month. And, yes, just about every year has one and sometimes 2 such blue moons. That's not the proper definition of a blue moon.
In 1946 James Pruett wrote a piece for the magazine that misrepresented a complex 1937 article in the Maine Farmer's Almanac. The Almanac said a blue moon occurs when a season has 4 full moons, rather than the usual three. Pruett mistakenly thought that meant a blue moon is the second full moon within the same month.
Now we have a true rarity, something that almost never happens, but is about to happen this summer. Summer 2002 began on June 21 7:24am and will end Sept 22 at 10:55pm. There have already been 2 full summer moons, June 24 and July 24.
The next two will be Aug 22 and Sept 21.
You might think the September full moon would be the blue one, but the confusion deepens. For some reason, the third full moon is the real blue moon.
Whatever happens Aug 22, whether it's brushing your teeth or getting a promotion, can be said to have happened once in a blue moon."
