THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
In the Music Hall (all ages $11.50 adv/$12 50 day of):
WAAF Back To School Bash:
THE NIXONS and IMPERIAL DRAG - Two of the hottest new bands to come down the pike these days return to the Music Hall on the same night! The Nixons are all over the radio with their hit "Sister" and this could be your last chance to see them before they hit venues like Great Woods and the Fleet Center. Imperial Drag have their show down. They literally blew us away last time they played here, charming the audience with their funky '70s sound, updated for the '90s. You better come sweat with these guys while you still can, cause with chart smashes like "Are You A Boy Or A Girl" you'll be lining up for tickets for them also!

Last night was awesome!

ID only played 6 songs (they got cut off for time so the Nixons could play more) but they still played a great short set. I took photos and got an autographed set list, too.

Apparently, the club told ID that they could play their full set and that the show would run late but they changed their mind midway through the set. They had 3 or 4 more songs that they were gonna play. It sucks being the second of 3 bands, but The Nixons had top billing so the question was kinda moot by the time ID was on stage.

Set List:

  1. Intro - Zodiac Sign
  2. Playboy After Dark
  3. Down With The Man
  4. Crosseyed
  5. Boy Or A Girl
  6. Spyder
I noticed Eric Dover used a guitar with an open tuning on both 'Down With The Man' and 'Crosseyed'.

Just before 'Boy Or A Girl', Eric Dover told the audience that they could only play two more songs. The crowd greeted that news with boos but Eric said that "Everybody's gotta get screwed on this bill."

The extended version of 'Spyder' was a fitting end to a hard-rockin' set in which there were no slow songs.

One cool thing I noticed: Eric Skodis has a little action figure attached to the top of his bass drum. I never did find out who/what it was.

After they finished I was lucky enough to get Eric Skodis' set list, which I later got autographed by the band.

Probably the greatest thing was getting to talk to the band members aftarwards. They seemed truly pleased to meet me. Because I maintain this web site, they were gracious enough to spend some time with me talking about the site and helping me with lots of details. Joeseph went through his tour diary with me so I could make the pages accurate. Eric S. wrote a big message for me to post to the chatter page. Eric D. was really sweet, too. It was so casual and laid-back talking with him. I guess it's that smooth southern style.

Anyway, it was a blast! Check out my photos below:
